HRC Recruitment are currently looking to hear from experienced mechanical engineers based within the Preston area. Our client is one of Europe’s largest designers and manufactures of Aircraft Ground Support Equipment, who supply civilian airline, ground handling organizations, aircraft manufacturers and military/peacekeeping agencies worldwide with a wide variety of aircraft ground support equipment.

 

The successful applicant will be remotely based away from AMSS main facility in a mobile capacity between BAE Warton and Samlesbury.  Main role would be to inspect, maintain, install and commission Aircraft Staging of various shapes and sizes. Additionally there would be a requirement for good all round knowledge of a variety of GSE equipment in order to be abe to r troubleshoot, repair, assemble and commission equipment including Conveyors, Passenger Steps and Atlas Loaders. Travel within UK and abroad.

 

The main duties of the role will include (but not limited to) the following
 

  • Inspection and maintenance of structural platforms required for aircraft access.
  • Commissioning Airfield Ground Support Equipment at customer sites.
  • Training customers in the operation, maintenance and safety aspects of the equipment.
  • Servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of equipment at customer sites.
  • Documenting work carried out and maintaining administrative paperwork.
  • Customer engagement to identify new product requirements and maintain high standard of existing relationships.
  • Structural steel engineering experience.
  • Fabrication or welding experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of Health and Safety/Working at Height requirements ideally possessing LOLER qualifications or experience.
  • Proven ability to fault diagnose and repair the following systems:
    • Hydraulic Lifting Systems
  • Minimum 8 years engineering experience ideally within the airfield environment.
  • Have strong communication skills, written and spoken.
  • Capable of working within a team or autonomously as required.
  • An outgoing personality – this role will be customer facing.
  • A full clean UK Driving License and valid British Passport.

 

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Proven ability to fault diagnose and repair the following systems:
    • Hydraulic Systems - control and transmissions
    • Electrical Systems both AC and DC
    • Vehicle Transmission Systems
    • Pneumatic Systems
    • Diesel Engines
  • Knowledge of air conditioning systems.
  • Fork lift truck license.
  • Knowledge of airfield working practices.
  • Prior experience working with BAE Systems.
